Otago Exercise Program

The Otago Exercise Program can reduce your risk of falling by improving muscle strength, flexibility, balance and reaction time. This Otago program will be delivered by the RFLA Allied Health Team kinesiologist in collaboration with the AVOID Frailty Program.

This 12-week program is best suited for persons who:

  • are at risk for falling or have fallen in the past year
  • have muscle and balance difficulty
  • walks with OR without a walking aid

The 12-week Otago group program runs at multiple sites. Two-hour classes feature:
FIRST hour with exercise to reduce risk of falls with strength, flexibility, reaction time & balance;
then the SECOND hour includes guest speakers and time to connect with others

Starting September 2026 at the following locations:

Deseronto @ the Deseronto Community Centre
starts September 15 on Tuesdays from 2 – 4 pm

Flinton @ at Through The Roof Ministries, 3662 Flinton Rd
starts September 17 on Thursdays from 10 am – 12 pm

Napanee running @ the Lenadco Building
starts September 11 on Fridays from 10 am – 12 pm
starts September 14 on Mondays from 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Newburgh @ the Newburgh Hall
starts September 8 on Tuesdays from 9 – 11 am

Sydenham @ the Grace Centre
starts September 16 on Wednesdays from 1 – 3 pm

Verona @ the Trinity United Church
starts September 14 on Mondays from 9 – 11 am
